Briggs Sisters Win Wrestling Titles

Ailee Briggs, center, went 2-0 at the Maryland State Wrestling Association state championship meet at Showplace Arena in Upper Marlboro on March 1, winning the state championship in the 12U/95-lbs bracket.

The Briggs sisters had a pretty good weekend. As in region- and state-champion good.

Shannon Briggs, a freshman on the Severna Park wrestling team, won her match by pin at the 4A/3A East region championships at South River High School on February 29 to claim the individual region crown at 152 lbs. She will move on to the state tournament over the weekend of March 6 and 7.

Ailee Briggs went 2-0 at the Maryland State Wrestling Association state championship meet at Showplace Arena in Upper Marlboro on March 1, winning the state championship in the 12U/95-lbs bracket. Briggs came back from a broken elbow suffered at Christmastime to win the tournament and the state crown.
