The Severna Park Falcons boys soccer team dominated the U-9 division in the highly competitive National Capital Soccer League (NCSL), finishing the fall season with an impressive record, 9-3-1. The team, which was assembled in June, only started practicing in August but meshed immediately to put together a very successful campaign.

“What the coaching staff and I are most proud of,” began head coach Matt DeFeo, “is that every athlete played at least half of every game, all 12 boys worked extremely well together as a team and every kid developed nicely through the season.”
The team went 5-3-1 in the NCSL, and posted an impressive 4-0 mark - good enough for a first place finish - at the Mountain Harvest Soccer Tournament held at Mount St. Mary’s College over Columbus Day weekend.
Daniel Ashbeck, Andrew DeLaere, Joey Killpatrick and Elliot Skopp led the brick-wall defense, while Ty Benz, Gordie Berhlohr, Evan Blamphin, Colin DeFeo, Justin Gardner, Connor Panebianco, Christopher Rothe and Jake Van Giesson manned the stout offense.
The Falcons took on teams from across the region in the NCSL, including the Crofton United, the D.C. Red Metros, the LaPlata Triumph, the TSC Bordeaux from Jessup and the new Waldorf Predators.
“Overall, the team had a great season and learned a lot about the game of soccer,” said DeFeo. “The team is really looking forward to a fantastic winter and spring season.”
