With a 34-33 victory over the Lakers in overtime, the Timberwolves captured the Green Hornets boys 12/13 B bracket championship on February 24 at Severn School.

The team of Luke Lombardo, Jack Beatty, Gavin Buczynski, Liam Cahill, Andrew Tangrea, Brooks Steppe, Adam Marsella, Peter Monaco, Brennan Danahy and Koen Glick, led by head coach Steve Phillips and assistant coach Mike Marsella, came roaring back from deficits of 12-3 at halftime and 28-16 at the start of the fourth quarter to send the game into overtime in dramatic fashion on a last-second 3-pointer by Glick.

Cahill led the Timberwolves in scoring with nine points on three 3-pointers.

Daniel Stack had a game-high 13 points for the runner-up Lakers, who were manned by Stack, Ryan Austin, Scott Engleman, Tyler Engleman, James Evans, Preston Fitzgerald, Joshua Hong, John McCone, Jeremy McNamara and Thomas Weaver. The Lakers were coached by head coach Walter Hong and assistant coach William McCone.

“This is one of those games you wish both teams could win,” said Timberwolves head coach Steve Phillips. “We were fortunate to hit some big shots at the end of the fourth quarter and that gave us a lot of momentum heading into overtime. As a team this year, we have come an incredibly long way from the start of the season to now. Everyone worked hard during the season, and it paid off today.”
