Sports News Sept. 1: Severna Park Golf

Severna Park freshman DA Regala shot a 1-under 34 with two birdies at Bay Hills to lead the Falcons to a team score of 159 and a victory over South River (165), Arundel (176) and Broadneck (189) in the county’s A Division golf opener on August 26. Teammate Pete Regala carded a 40 to tie for second, while Connor McCoy (41) and Tommy Coleman (44) contributed to the Falcons’ winning team score on the day.

On August 28, Severna Park’s Ingrid Wells shot a nine-hole score of 43 to win the girls varsity match at Renditions Golf Course in Davidsonville. Arundel’s Angelina Hwang was second with a 45, and Katrina Schultz of Severna Park and Gemma Valeo of Arundel tied for third with scores of 49. Severna Park’s Campbell Haney shot a 51 to place fifth.

South River’s boys rebounded for a win in the second match of the season at Compass Pointe on August 28 as Aidan Dillahey shot a day’s-best 37 to lead the Seahawks to a team score of 163, which beat out Severna Park’s 167. DA Regala finished second with a 38, while Pete Regala (40), Tucker McDonough (43) and Coleman (46) contributed to Severna Park’s score. Broadneck (186) finished fourth as a team, with Luke Farnie (43) shooting the low score for the Bruins.
