SP Track Teams Win At Glen Burnie

The Severna Park track and field teams began the season with success at Glen Burnie’s inter-county meet on March 28 as both the boys and girls placed first in the six-school field that included the host Gophers, Broadneck, Old Mill, Annapolis and Chesapeake.

The boys totaled 210 points to top runner-up Old Mill (180), and the Falcon girls stacked up 179 points to come out in front of Broadneck (135).

Standout performers were many. For the boys, Jojo Kelliher was first in the 110-meter hurdles, second in high jump and fourth in long jump. Nick Benedict won the 3200 in 9:46.99. Max Nelsen won discus with a throw of 97 feet and shot put with a throw of 36 feet, 5 inches. James Dennison was third, Philip Bansemer was fourth, James Louie was seventh and Reid Figlioli was eighth in the 3200. Hyun Lee and Jeremiah Jennings were third and fourth, respectively, in the 110 hurdles. Jennings was third in the 300 hurdles, David Dyck was fourth and Erick Howard was sixth. Gavin Ivey placed second in the 1600, Colm O’Connor was sixth and Ronan Byrne was eighth. Brandon Kiefer was third in the 400, and Hunter Robert was eighth. Andrew Weinstein was sixth in the 200, second in long jump and fourth in high jump. Collin Mullaney was second in the 800, Matt Chaisson was fourth, and Colin Leeds was seventh. Brandon Keifer was sixth in high jump and fourth in triple jump. Casey Grindle was sixth in long jump. Caleb Sartalamacchia was third in triple jump, and Graham Snyder was sixth. Jack VanVeelan was fifth in shot put and seventh in discus. Matthew Tagle was seventh in pole vault. Brauch Murray was second to Nelsen in shot put.

For the Severna Park girls, Sarah Adams was first in the 100 hurdles in 17.09 seconds, first in the 300 hurdles in 48.66 seconds, and first in pole vault, clearing 9 feet, 9 inches. Claire Kintzley won long jump with a jump of 14 feet and placed second in triple jump. Anna Marcoon placed third in the 100 hurdles. Janice Chukwu was second in the girls 100-meter dash. Shania Johnson was fourth in the 100. Cara Vandemeulebroecke was fifth in the 1600, an event won by Broadneck’s Mollie Fenn. Melanie Reynolds was eighth in the 1600. Olivia Wright was second in the 400, and Kintzley was fifth. Wright was also second in the 800, won by Broadneck’s Grace Denius. Amalia Hagerty was fourth in the 3200, which was won by Broadneck’s Madison Palmer. Annabelle Mayo was sixth in the 3200. Lilly Knapp was eighth in the 300 hurdles. Hannah Hill placed fifth in the 200-meter dash. Vandemeulebroecke was fourth in the 800, and Neela Baker was fifth. Kintzely was third in high jump. Rebecca Praley, Kaylee Reyes and Halle Nichols placed 3-4-5 in discus. Praley was second in shot put, and Reyes and Nichols were 7-8.

For Broadneck, Fenn, Denius and Palmer were event winners in the girls 1600, 800 and 3200, respectively. Noah Heim won the boys 400. T-Naejah Watts won the boys 200.
