Severna Park's Campbell Kline Is Maryland's All-Time Hits Leader

Posted

No one hits more than Severna Park’s Campbell Kline. Ever.

Kline, Severna Park’s star, champion and all-around softball dynamo, achieved an historic distinction on April 17 in the Falcons’ 13-1 win over Meade by connecting for two base hits to reach a career total of 167 and become the all-time hits leader in the Maryland Public Secondary Schools Athletic Association.

Kline’s career hit total eclipses the previous mark of 166 set by Lindsey Schmeiser of Northern High School (Calvert County), who played from 2009-2012.

Kline’s 167 career hits have come in 269 at-bats; she is a career .621 hitter with the Falcons and possesses astounding offensive statistical totals across the board. Her feats include the state record for hits in a single season, 69, a mark she reached last season. She has 17 career home runs to go with 25 doubles and 14 triples and extraordinary career slash-line percentages of .621 batting/.687 on-base percentage/1.007 slugging percentage. Kline is the reigning Gatorade Player of the Year for the state of Maryland and will play collegiately for the University of Maryland.

“Campbell is a trifecta as an offensive threat,” said Severna Park head coach Meredith McAlister. “She is a good contact hitter with speed and power. Swapping to the lefthand side makes her an extremely hard out for even top-level defenses.”
