Severna Park Baseball Walks Off With Amazing Win Over Old Mill In Extras, 13-12

Down to their final strike, the Severna Park baseball team refused to let the season come to an end.

Drew Jeffries made sure of it. Jeffries hit a two-run, walk-off homer in the bottom of the eighth inning on Saturday to lift Severna Park to a positively insane 13-12 victory over Old Mill and advance the Falcons to the next round of the 4A East playoffs.

Jeffries’ homer was one of seven the Falcons hit on the day. Luke Guy hit two home runs; Kody Milton was 4 for 5 with a home run, two doubles and single; Brendan Simonds hit a two-run homer; George Lesher hit a home run; Nick Horgan hit a home run; and the Falcons came back from deficits of 6-1, 10-5, and 11-9 to win in unbelievable fashion against the Patriots.

Playing at home, Severna Park trailed 2-0 after the top of the first inning and never led at any point until Jeffries’ game-winning homer. Trailing 11-9 entering the bottom of the seventh, Guy and Horgan both hit solo homers to tie the game at 11-11. The Patriots went back ahead 12-11 in the top of the eighth inning before Jeffries, batting with two outs and a runner on, was one strike away from the end of the Falcons’ season before belting the game-winning shot.

The game began at 1 p.m. and because of the high run total, took several hours. Severna Park’s players hustled off the field after the victory—the Falcons had to rush home and clean up for prom.

The Falcons face Arundel at Arundel in the 4A Section I final on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.
