Local Skaters Win Anne Arundel Hockey League Men’s Championship

Posted

The Press Gang hockey team captured the Anne Arundel Hockey League men’s championship on May 10. The team — comprised mostly of Severna Park, Arnold, Cape St. Claire and Annapolis skaters — entered the semifinals as the least favorite to win but steamrolled through team Heroes, which was the first-place team all year long, by a score of 8-4. Press Gang’s goaltender, John Bareuther, set a personal record of six consecutive stops without allowing a goal. The final was a great game with Press Gang maintaining the lead throughout the game and defeating Union Jacks by a score of 3-2 to capture the title. Chris “Mac-T” MacDonald scored two goals and Dave “Money” Loud scored the game-winner. Press Gang trains at various locations throughout the offseason, but the team appreciates the hometown support at games. Home games are held at the U.S. Naval Academy’s McMullen Hockey Arena.
