Green Hornets Advance To Pitch, Hit & Run Championships At Camden Yards

Several Green Hornets baseball and softball players excelled in local and sectional Pitch, Hit & Run competitions, and a handful will move on to the championship round at Camden Yards in June.

After competing in the Pitch, Hit & Run contest locally at the beginning of spring — competitors first joined the contest on April 6 at Kinder Park — many advanced to the sectional championships on May 11 at Bear Creek Elementary School in Dundalk. Kids who placed first at sectionals will compete in the championships at Camden Yards on June 1.

Jodi Deaton, a second-grader at Oak Hill, is a third-year softball player who played two years of baseball before beginning softball. She placed first in the sectional championships in the 7/8 girls group.

Megan Young placed first in the girls 9/10 age group at sectionals, and in April she was also crowned Best All Around Champion at the local competition for the fourth consecutive year. She won all three categories at the local competition, and her first-place finish at sectionals is her third (2016 and 2018).

Sara Antinucci placed first at sectionals in the girls 13/14 group and is advancing to the championship round at Camden Yards. The niece of Green Hornets executive director and former MLB pitcher Josh Banks and the cousin of Severna Park softball senior Emma Hall, Antinucci comes from a strong family of baseball and softball success.

Jeremy Peiffer placed first in the boys 9/10 group at sectionals in his first time entering the competition.

Vince Nguyen placed first in the 11/12 boys group. Nguyen plays for the Green Hornets 12U White travel team. His appearance at sectionals was his third, and he is advancing to the championship round for the first time.

Brett Boeskin placed first in the boys 13/14 group. It was Boeskin’s third trip to sectionals, and he will be making his second trip to the championship round. Boeskin, and eighth-grader at Severna Park Middle School, currently plays for the 14U Green Hornets travel baseball team and also plays travel basketball and football with Green Hornets.

There were additional strong finishes at sectionals for Green Hornets athletes. Maggie Moran placed second at sectionals in the 11/12 girls group. Kameron Walker placed second in the boys 7/8 group. Dillon Autry placed third at sectionals in the boys 9/10 group. Andrew Kummer placed second in the boys 11/12 group. Carter Ignacio placed second in the boys 13/14 group.
