Fourth Of July Fireworks Around Town

This Thursday is Independence Day, which is often celebrated with parades, cookouts and, of course, lavish fireworks displays. Here are a few places around town where you can catch light shows in person.

Sawmill Creek Park – Wednesday, July 3

Looking for an early fireworks display? Sawmill Creek Park has a fireworks show on Wednesday, July 3. The rain date for this display is Friday, July 5. The fireworks show begins at 9:00pm. Sawmill Creek Park is located at 7405 Charley Eckman Lane in Glen Burnie.

Sherwood Forest Club – Wednesday, July 3

As a tradition, Sherwood Forest does the fireworks display on Wednesday, July 3. The rain date for this display is Friday, July 5. The fireworks show begins at 9:20pm. The Sherwood Forest Club is located at 134 Sherwood Forest Road in Annapolis. Although the gated community is closed to nonresidents, those with water access or boats along the Severn River can see the show. The best vantage points on land are near Round Bay, Olde Severna Park or Linstead beaches.

Annapolis Barge – Thursday, July 4

Following the Independence Day Parade – which steps off at 6:30pm from Amos Garrett Boulevard, goes down West Street, around Church Circle, down Main Street to City Dock – there will be fireworks starting at 9:15pm. Prior to the fireworks display, the Londontowne Symphony Orchestra will perform at Susan Campbell Park.

Baltimore’s Inner HarborThursday, July 4

After an evening of live music from the U.S. Navy Jazz Band Commodores, there will be an 18-minute fireworks display over downtown Baltimore. The concert starts at 7:00pm, and the fireworks begin at 9:30pm. The best view is long the Inner Harbor promenade and surrounding downtown area.

Washington, D.C.’s National MallThursday, July 4

Feeling really patriotic this year? The nation’s capital will boast a 35-minute fireworks display over the monuments and memorials. You don’t have to go all the way into the city to view this display. It is visible from West Potomac Park, East Potomac Park, Anacostia Park, George Washington Memorial Parkway, Gravelly Point Park and along the Mount Vernon Trail. The show is set to start at 9:07pm.
