Merchant, Snyder Go On To National Titles In Uneven Bars

It was quite the spring season for Docksiders Gymnastics athletes.

Docksiders’ level 8, 9 and 10 teams first competed at the state championship meet in Fruitland, Maryland, in March with Docksiders’ level 9 team winning the team championship, five individuals winning state titles and all 18 athletes who competed advancing to regionals.

Docksiders gymnasts Holly Snyder and Hailey Merchant subsequently went on to claim individual national championships in uneven bars in May.

At the state meet, Docksiders had a slew of standout performances. At level 9, Sarah Zois and Susan Maranto tied for the all-around championship as Maranto repeated as all-around state champion and also added a title in vault. Jordan Wagner placed first in the all-around competition in the senior B age group and was also balance beam champion. Snyder repeated as the all-around champion in the junior A age group, adding a title in uneven bars. At level 10, Hanna Munnelly placed first in all-around in the senior B age group.

At level 8, Kaylin Jackson finished third in all-around, balance beam and floor exercise in the senior A age group; and Carley Johnson placed second on balance beam and uneven bars. At level 9, Kate Wolbart was third all-around in the senior B age group, winning both vault and floor exercise. Hannah Schouviller was second on beam in the junior B age group, and Adelina Rodrigues was third on uneven bars in the senior A age group.

At level 10, Ronni Binstock was third all-around in the senior B age group and won floor exercise with an amazing score of 9.70. Logan Smith was first on vault, and Maria Ramsey was third on vault and floor exercise. In the junior B age group, Julia Heiner was third all-around, winning uneven bars. Anaya Smith was second on uneven bars and third on vault. Emily Burke was third in floor exercise. In the junior A age group, Merchant won uneven bars with a high score of 9.675.

Snyder scored a 9.60 for level 9 uneven bars in the junior 4 age group to win a national crown for that event in Rochester. In Ohio, Merchant placed first in the junior D age group with a high score of 9.625. Binstock achieved the top all-around score of any Docksiders gymnast with a personal-best 37.725.
