We are excited to announce our newest members of the chamber: Fairway Independent Mortgage, Marshall Feldman of First Home Mortgage, Pink Posey Photography, WildFlower Stem + Sundry, Debbie’s NRG Balancing, Green Home Solutions, Total View Home Inspections, Passanante’s Home Food Service, and Neil Schwartz of Long and Foster Real Estate.

We held four ribbon cutting celebrations in November. Dr. Brian Valle, DDS celebrated 30 years in practice with a well-attended ribbon cutting including his first patient. Long and Foster Real Estate cut the ribbon on a new location in Severna Park, followed by a fun cocktail party. Club Pilates in Severna Park held a weeklong celebration culminating in a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate four years of success. And a ribbon cutting was held at the newest floral shop, WildFlower Stem + Sundry in Arnold. We congratulate all these businesses and thank them for supporting our community.

Our general membership and new board elections meeting was held at the Blackwall Barn and Lodge mid-November. We are excited to announce our new board of directors: President Dana Eckert, Bank of Glen Burnie; First Vice President Dianna Lancione, The Voice Media; Second Vice President Crystal Wiley, Severn Bank; Treasurer Valerie McLaughlin, Emerald Financial; Secretary Tammie Neall, Anne Arundel Community College; Director Sherri Norton, Live! Casino and Hotel; Director Patrick Lee, Chesapeake Think Tank; Director Melanie Ferragut, PNC Bank; Director Kristine Pennington, The Y of Central Maryland; and Director Jaron Rice, Magothy Payments. The new board members will be sworn in at our January general membership meeting, and they look forward to meeting chamber and community members.

We were so honored to participate in the Veterans Day groundbreaking ceremony of the Heroes of Severna Park gazebo. The gazebo will be built right behind our chamber building and will be dedicated to Gold Star families in Severna Park to remember Private First Class Eric Kavanagh, Lance Corporal Eric Herzberg, Lance Corporal Taylor Wild and Airman First Class Nathanial McDavitt. The project will be funded by private donations that can be made by visiting www.heroesofsevernapark.com.

Our new Health and Wellness Coalition, hosted by Spring Arbor of Severna Park, was again well-attended and well-received. James Scott, owner of Chesapeake Bay Hypnosis, delivered a fascinating speech breaking down common misconceptions about hypnosis, and the valuable uses today to treat anxiety, PTSD, and other ailments. Jennie Slack of Spring Arbor spoke about the new Alzheimer’s Unit, and Shelly Beigel of the Severna Park Community Center told us about all the great things going on there for health and wellness.
