Chamber Update

Posted

We are excited to announce our newest members of the chamber: Your Daily Finances with owner Mimi Schwarz, Dylan Roche – writer and editor, All For The Pet (returning member), The Severna Park and Baltimore Holistic Chamber of Commerce, and Imagine Aerial LLC with owner Michael Flynn.

National Night Out on August 6 enjoyed a record-breaking crowd at the Earleigh Heights Volunteer Fire Company. The event was a wonderful way to bring the community together with our law enforcement officials and first responders in a fun, family-oriented atmosphere. There was tons of entertainment and many demonstrations, food, exhibitors, prizes and more! Our chamber was a sponsor of the event, an active committee member, and we had a booth with a fun game.

You may have heard about our “House for a House” playhouse raffle. Betsie Russell of Touchstone Title, Wendy Oliver of Coldwell Banker, Cedar Square owners Curtis Payne and Charlie Brenneman, and Cedar Square manager Chris Haughton came to the chamber with a great idea - to build a playhouse to market their companies! More importantly, they wanted to do something good in the community. Cedar Square Homes built a beautiful playhouse that was displayed at our Shop Local Fun Fiesta and our Independence Day parade to the delight of everyone. The response from the community was wonderful and we sold hundreds of tickets. Shortly after the parade, we gathered and drew a winner. The winner gifted the house to a Severna Park boy who suffers from a congenital health issue. He was overjoyed. We were able to donate $1,400 to the Ronald McDonald House in Baltimore.

There were four ribbon-cutting celebrations in August. Landmark Roofing celebrated four years with a huge event in its parking lot. The owners are so generous to the community with their donation of a roof each year to a needy family. Zeskind’s Door, Window and Millwork Showroom celebrated its grand opening in Arnold. This is a fourth-generation business operating in Baltimore since 1925. The Blended Essentials opened its new business in Severna Park, offering candles, soaps, classes and more. Icon Beauty Lounge celebrated a grand opening in Pasadena. The lounge features hair, nail, and skin care services.

We are so excited about our Shoptoberfest, to be held at Park Plaza on Saturday, October 5, from 11:00am–3:00pm. This will be like our spring Shop Local Festival but with a Halloween and Oktoberfest flair. The event features more than 70 vendors/exhibitors, trick-or-treating at each exhibitor’s table, food, cash and carry items, and more. The event is free and open to the public.

We will have a multi-chamber Successful Women in Business event at the Walden Country Club in Crofton on October 2 from 11:30am–1:00pm. This is a popular luncheon, and we will enjoy a beautiful buffet while listening to an informative speaker (to be announced). You may register for the luncheon on our website.
