By Amy Russell The Severna Park Green Hornets Blue Crabs middie field hockey team played some tricks and the got their treats as they won the championship in the "strength" bracket with a 2-0 win over Broadneck on Halloween, Sunday, October 31. Claire Domshick and Coleman Bray led the team with a goal apiece in the Blue crabs third and final tournament game. The road to the title started with a 1-0 win over North Annapolis after a first-round bye. The intense battle with North Annapolis went scoreless into overtime, when Paige Kolbe assisted Bethanny Peterson with the game winning shot that moved the Hornets one game closer to the championship. "It was a very exciting game," said coach Peterson afterward. "We had a lot of shots but North Annapolis’ defense really kept us out of the net." But when Kolbe and Peterson got the opportunity in overtime, they took advantage of it. In the second game of the run, the Blue Crabs topped Davidsonville 5-0 to earn a spot in the final game. "We are really excited to win," Peterson said proudly.
