Eric Hertel has accounted for some big goals this season for the Severna Park Arsenal. He is shown here in recent action against the SYA Comets.

Despite a hard fought battle that resulted in two goals, the Severna Park Arsenal boys soccer team fell just short, 3-2, to the SYA Comets in recent action. Severna Park, which was ranked number one in Division III of the National Capital Soccer League, is now 5-2-1 on the season.

The team’s speedy offense consisting of Peter Roberts, Eric Hertel, Luke Bernlohr, Noah Chapman, Joe Chauca Alvarez, Henry Reed, Zachary Roberts, Trent Watson and Trevor Wiggins has averaged three goals per game. Defenders Benjamin Gawitt, Kenneth Kline, Bailey Nicholas, Keelin Thomas Dines have banded together with goalkeeper Ryan Owens to allow an average of fewer than two goals against per game.

Severna Park will finish its regular season on November 7 with what should be one of its toughest games of the season, on the road against second ranked Frederick Juniors Blue.

Coaches John Coppola, Todd Carrick and Dan Gawitt have been leading the team all year, and they look forward to the final chapter of this season.
