Local Entertainment This Weekend

Children’s Theatre of Annapolis’ production of “Grease” continues its run through this weekend after a successful opening last Friday, and Colonial Players’ production of “Cinderella Waltz” runs through January 21. Look for my review of both shows in our upcoming January issue of the Pasadena Voice (also featured on our Pasadena website).
Those looking to catch a drink and some live music have a few options this weekend. Ronnie Buss will be playing at Brian Boru tonight, followed by Meg Murray and Bryan Ewald on Saturday Night. Love Story will play at Café Mezzanote on Saturday evening.
Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts opens their annual Artist-in-Residence Exhibition this weekend, and will display through February 20.
For one night only on Saturday, Classic Albums Live comes to the Hippodrome, playing Pink Floyd’s “Dark Side of the Moon.” Classic Albums Live recreates unforgettable albums live on stage, with all the integrity that such music deserves. Fans will not want to miss this performance at the Hippodrome.
Toby’s Dinner Theatre opens new shows this weekend and next weekend at its Columbia and Baltimore venues, respectively. “The King and I” runs through March 25 at the Columbia theatre and “Smokey Joe’s Café” opens January 19 and runs through March 18.
Presently, local high schools are beginning work on their spring productions. Northeast High School will present “Hairspray!” March 1-4—stay tuned for more information! Meanwhile, Severna Park High School students returned from winter break to rehearsals for the highly anticipated annual “Rock and Roll Revival” to take the stage in March. Broadneck High School has begun work on their production of the popular musical “Little Shop of Horrors.”
Looks to be another exciting weekend for the local entertainment scene! Best of luck to all our local artists and students in their performances and rehearsals!
