Severna Park Voice
This Friday, January 6, 2012, Severna Park’s annual Prom Fashion show will take place at 7 PM in the school auditorium. The Prom Fashion show is a annual event that the school’s Key Club puts on to display that season’s current prom fashions for girls and boys. The event includes student models walking the “runway”, local bands, and raffle with vendors from around the community. All of the profits that are made from the event go towards the March of Dimes charity which benefits the research of premature infants.
I was lucky enough to be a model in last year’s show and will be participating again this Friday. Being a model, especially a girl model, is very fun. All the dresses are provided by David’s Bridal (tuxes by Men’s Warehouse). The day before the show all the models get to go pick out a dress that they like the best. Last year I wore a purple halter dress with green accents. This year’s dress will be a surprise. Then the day of the show all the girls get hair and makeup done free of charge by the wonderful people at Jordan Taylor Salon. Myself, like pretty much any girl, loves getting my hair and makeup done. And even though our Prom Fashion show is no Fashion Week runway show, there is still a tangible level of excitement that comes with “modeling”.
We are all partnered with a guy to escort us down the runway, and as the show goes on, we all walk to music, pose for pictures, and basically make the dresses look good. If any of you readers want something fun to do this Friday night I highly suggest attending the show and bidding for some prizes. Come watch the fashion and donate money for the wonderful March of Dimes charity.
