Severna Park Voice
Living in Severna Park has many perks, especially around the holidays. There's Annapolis's Midnight Madness, Baltimore's Hampden Lights, and of course, Lights on the Bay.
This year, my best friends Shannon and I decided to divert from our usual Saturday nights of hanging out at the mall, and went to Lights on the Bay. We made a night out of it. We started off by getting dinner at one of the Park's finest sushi places, Kyoto, and then made the quick drive down to Sandy Point where the real fun began. Apparently we weren't the only people in the area in the Christmas spirit, so we were stuck waiting in line for what felt like hours. Shannon assured me that it was really only 45 minutes, but we spent the whole time talking, having fun, and singing along to the Christmas carols on the radio.
Anyway, after waiting, me complaining about waiting, and more waiting, we finally got up to the gate to pay. As teenagers, sometimes to compensate for waiting for so long, we pay for things in inconvenient ways, like in all quarters for example. So that's exactly what we did, paid our 14 dollar due in quarters, and made our way into the wonderland of lights.
We got really into the questionnaire that we received when we paid, counting everything exactly, the amount of houses in the village, how many sea creatures there were, and an answer only a true Marylander would know, what the Midshipman are throwing in the air.
The whole night was a blast, hanging out with my best friend, doing something a little different, and getting into the Christmas season with a classic tradition. Going to see the Lights on the Bay is always a fun thing to do with family and friends, and because we got a coupon for 4 dollars off, we might even go back again before the year's over!
