What To Know About The Karen Stevens Kids Triathlon

The Severna Park Community Center is hosting the ninth annual Karen Stevens Memorial Kids Triathlon on Saturday, September 23. Race check-in begins at 7:00am, the race begins at 7:30am and the Junior Tri-It begins at 8:30am.

Registration closes September 21 and costs $45 per individual, $70 per two-person team and $100 per three-person team.

The triathlon is open to children ages 3-14 and offers three courses described below:

10 & Under

Swim — 200 Yards (8 Lengths)

Bike — 2 miles

Run — 3/4 mile

11 – 14 years old

Swim — 400 Yards (16 Lengths)

Bike — 4 miles

Run — 1 1/2 miles

Junior Tri-It (only offered to 8 & Under)

Swim — Four lengths of heated therapy pool

Bike — Four laps around the parking lot

Run — One lap around the community center

Awards for first, second and third place will be given by gender and age group for individual participation. Team awards will be given to first and second place.

After the triathlon, the second annual Race to Remember 5K run or 1-mile walk will be held at 11:00am, honoring the legacy of special people in the community. The race will start just before the intersection of Jones Station Road on the B&A Trail. Race check-in is at 10:30am, the 5K begins at 11:00am and the 1-mile walk begins at 11:15am. The winning squad decides what charity receives the proceeds from the race. A carnival at the center will start at 9:00am.
