Spend Earth Day at Goshen Farm’s Spring Open House, Saturday, April 22, from noon to 5:00pm and have questions about creatures of the sky and the health of the earth answered. Gather the family and drive to 1420 Cape St. Claire Road, Annapolis, 21409, for an afternoon dedicated to family fun, food, history, entertainment, and wonder!

Get close and personal with the Scales and Tales’ Wildlife on Display. Watch the fascinating birds of prey and reptiles, exhibited in an informative and interactive manner. DNR naturalists will be on hand to answer questions, discuss the creatures, and share stories of these creatures from 12:30pm – 3:30pm.

Tour the Farm House built in 1783 and learn about the history of Goshen Farm, the last Colonial-era farm on the Broadneck Peninsula. Wander through the organic Sharing Garden, walk into the High Tunnel and observe the BHS Ecology Club’s students’ experiments with hydroponic farming, growing herbs, vegetables, and other plants without soil. Visit the Henson-Hall Slave Garden, built and maintained by local volunteers, which honors the memory of the twelve enslaved people known to have lived and labored on the property.

Drop by the Soil Health Pit for an informative discussion led by the Assistant State Soil Scientist and learn about the importance of soil health. View the relocated Apiary and watch the bees gathering nectar and pollinating the spring-time blossoms from the Goshen Farm Orchard, planted in conjunction with the Stream Restoration Grant Project of the Anne Arundel County Public Schools. Wander through the Goshen Farm Orchard, the Memorial Grove, the meadows, or the wooded paths.

Hungry? Pause and purchase a hamburger, hot dog, or other light refreshments.

Admission and parking are free. Donations gladly accepted and benefit the preservation and restoration of the 22-acre historic farm.
