Chamber Of Commerce Invites Guests For Feast On September 15

The Greater Severna Park and Arnold Chamber of Commerce will host an inaugural end-of-summer crab feast from 5:30pm to 9:30pm on September 15 at the Severna Park Elks Lodge, located at 160 Truck House Road.

The event will be held in lieu of the chamber’s monthly membership meeting. Board member Kevin Trader hopes the crab feast will become one of the chamber’s signature events, like the Crisfield Chamber of Commerce’s annual crab feast and clam bake on the Eastern Shore. “It has become a really big deal and an annual tradition,” Trader said.

Why not try it in Severna Park, he thought, especially since the chamber is celebrating its 60th anniversary — a perfect opportunity to start a new tradition.

Rather than include monthly business, Trader said the crab feast will be a chance for chamber members, their adult family members and guests to get together, relax and enjoy the evening. “This is an opportunity to do something just for fun,” he said.

The chamber began in 1957 to advocate on behalf of and to support local businesses. It coordinates networking, development and legislative events; ribbon cuttings for new businesses; special luncheons for women; and golf tournaments. The group also hosts an annual family wellness expo, the Shop Local Fun Festival, Taste & Sip, a holiday trade fair and a tree lighting ceremony.

The cost for tickets is $60 for members and guests, and $70 for nonmembers. That cost includes all-you-can-eat steamed crabs, Maryland crab soup, fried chicken, hot dogs, potato salad, corn on the cob, soft drinks and beer, and a cash bar. A disc jockey will provide music. There will also be a sports memorabilia auction. Folks can also browse through chamber history displays.

Table sponsorships are still available. Reserve tickets online at www.severnaparkchamber.com. Tickets will not be available at the door.
