AAUW Offers College Scholarships

The Anne Arundel County Branch of the American Association of University Women will be offering three one-year financial awards of $2000.00 each for the 2011- 2012 academic year. Eligible candidates are women who have attended Anne Arundel Community College and are planning to attend or continuing attending a four year college or university. These scholarships are intended to ease the financial burden of the undergraduate transfer student who has attained junior or higher academic standing. High school students entering their first two years of college work are not eligible for award. Other criteria require eligible applicants be residents of Anne Arundel County, have a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 or higher, and show evidence of financial need and a commitment to community service as demonstrated through volunteer or employment activities.

Scholarship applications are available online at the organization website or from the Financial Aid office at Anne Arundel Community College. Questions should be addressed to Barbara Marder at 410 518 9978. All completed applications need be submitted by March 29, 2011. Awards will be announced in mid-April.
