Severna Park students Emma Buchman, Savannah Chaisson, Lexi Hahn, Maddie Clouser and Thomas Adams take a break from their ASP volunteer work in Pike County, Tenn. The crews repaired water and termite damage that was weakening the foundation of a local family’s home. The annual ASP Talent-Service auction raises funds to help with building materials, appliances, and tools for these projects.

Coming Sunday, March 25 at 6:00pm: the annual Talent-Service auction for the Appalachia Service Project at Severna Park United Methodist Church, 731 Benfield Road, Severna Park.

The Talent-Service Auction is a fantastic way for the whole community to be involved in raising necessary funds for the 2012 Appalachia Service Project. Not only can you bid on fantastic vacations, gift baskets, gourmet food, and gift cards, but the service auction can net you a teenage yard worker, babysitter, computer consultant, and much more! There are a few ways you can be part of the event...

1. Donate some service or talent that you have. Examples are: Anything homemade; bread, candy, cakes, etc. Lessons, child care, oil changes, leaf-raking, etc. Handmade crafts of all kinds: quilts, baby afghans, wall hangings, framed cross stitch, scarves, woodworking, etc. Other: dinner for 8 delivered to buyer's home; gift baskets; trips on your boat, work around the house, etc.

2. Attend the auction on Sunday, March 25 at from 6:00pm until about 8:30pm and bid on the items (which will be previewed in the weeks ahead). Refreshments are free and the laughs are plenty! You have a full year to call the donor and redeem your purchase.

All proceeds go directly to the youth mission project in Appalachia this June. Think now about how you will participate!
