Christmas is a time of year when folks across the country go visiting family. Brad Wray and Dru DeCaro are no different. Each year, the two young men return to Maryland for a good, old-fashioned, hometown family visit. But with Brad and Dru, it’s just a little different. The two Severna Park High School alums are successful musicians, living in California. Between, they can list playing with names like Edwin McCain, Snoop Dogg, Ice Cube, Lil Jon, Erykah Badu, Paul Wall and Miguel, among many others.

Every holiday, the “Gruesome Twosome” – as DeCaro jokingly refers to the pair while onstage – plays a holiday concert at a local venue.

That smiling, guitar playing maniac is SPHS-alum Dru DeCaro on an annual trip back home for Christmas. He and Brad Wray played a fabulous concert at the Annapolis venue.

This year, that venue was the Rockfish in Annapolis. The Rockfishmas Naptown Ho-Ho-Hoedown was held on December 29, and featured Skribe (headed up by Aaron Yealdhall, another local product), Patryk Larney and Billy Fisher as the warm-up acts. The evening ended with Brad and Dru rocking the stage to a packed out house. And rock out they did. The pair are dynamic entertainers, taking the stage with an easy comfort and instantly engaging the crowded bar. They rollicked through a set that ranged from classic, even doing the Beetles proud on a rendition of “Life Goes On” to more modern fare, and shone on every song.

Teresa Wray and Cindy DeCaro were all smiles during the opening act by Skribe.

All the fun wasn’t just about having a good time, it was also about supporting a good cause. The concert was held in memory of Brad’s father, David Wray, who died from ALS. Proceeds from t-shirt sales and a 50/50 raffle raised funds to be donated to support ALS research to help fight Lou Gehrig’s disease.
